The things that come out of this child's mouth . . .
"Mom, why are you so bossy all the time?" Really?!? Me? Bossy? I can't even imagine. I don't know what it is about this week, but my children are on my ever last grating nerve. I love them dearly, but it just seems like they are pushing all of the right buttons and it is putting me over the edge. Some days it is harder than others to take a step back and be the adult. I hate that I let them get to me, but when it's a he/said she/said going on I tend to not always keep my cool. It drives me insane. Grace is really testing the waters. I know it's because I expect a lot from her since she is the oldest and knows better.
I am thoroughly enjoying my quiet time right now and praying that Caden isn't hanging more stuffed animals from his bunk bed. Maybe what I really need is some more chocolate and a huge fat glass of wine.

When Caden Was Supposed to be Asleep . . .
He took several of his stuffed animals and hung them from the slats in the top bunk of his bed. Grace came into the living room at 8:45pm and said that she couldn't sleep b/c Caden keeps coming into her room. They were in bed at 7pm, so he's been playing around for 2 hours. I will say that I laughed when I walked into his room and saw what he had done. It won't be funny in the morning when they have both missed out on 2 hours of sleep!!

Chris's b-day
Chris turned 35 on January 8th. He shares a birthday with Elvis:) It's funny how as we get older the birthdays are more about the kids and less about us - as it should be. We had my family and Chris's parents over to celebrate the Sunday before his birthday. It was such a nice afternoon that we just cooked out. The kids and I took Chris to Texas Land and Cattle for dinner on his actual birthday. We were trying to come up with a kid friendly steak place and figured that would be good. It was fun. I bought Chris Guitar Hero for the wii and the kids picked out a new shirt for him. A blue one because that is his favorite color :)
I had a really hard time finding the Guitar Hero for Chris b/c it's sold out for the wii all over the place. I got tired of driving around town so I just bought it off of Ebay. I printed the cover of the game off and wrapped it in a package for him to open and told him that it would arrive later in the week. Much to my surprise Chris had gone to Gamestop during his lunch break that day and they had just received a shipment of the guitar heroes for the wii. He bought one. I bet that wasn't easy for him to unwrap my gift and then admit to me that he also bought one. Needless to say I told him that he should not expect a gift from me in the near future. What a twirp . . . obviously he doesn't know that you don't buy gifts for yourself on your birthday when you haven't opened the gifts that your family got for you!!

Kids Say the Funniest Things . . .
1) We went into a restroom in a bounce house place on Sunday and Caden said, "it smells like someone used to have hamsters in here!" (I don't know when he has ever been around a hamster, but I did have to agree with him about the smell.)
2) We were talking to the kids about Baby Lauren and we told them how we were going to see her and that she was walking all around the place now, that Daisy has a baby in her tummy, etc. All of the sudden Caden says, "Kevin and Daisy took baby Lauren to have walking lessons?" Grace couldn't even do her usual "na un" because she didn't know either. It was cute.
The restroom one was the funniest!
Add on:
3) I like the way that lady cutted your hair.
Add on #2 (1/20/2008):
1) upon coming out of the shower buck naked . . . " Look how clean I am!"
2) In the restroom at a restaurant with Chris . . . Caden opens the stall door and says, "Good thing that you have your guitar hero shirt on dad!" It was a t-shirt from the Gap with guitars on it. Where does Caden keep coming up with these things?
