Chris's b-day

Chris turned 35 on January 8th. He shares a birthday with Elvis:) It's funny how as we get older the birthdays are more about the kids and less about us - as it should be. We had my family and Chris's parents over to celebrate the Sunday before his birthday. It was such a nice afternoon that we just cooked out. The kids and I took Chris to Texas Land and Cattle for dinner on his actual birthday. We were trying to come up with a kid friendly steak place and figured that would be good. It was fun. I bought Chris Guitar Hero for the wii and the kids picked out a new shirt for him. A blue one because that is his favorite color :)

I had a really hard time finding the Guitar Hero for Chris b/c it's sold out for the wii all over the place. I got tired of driving around town so I just bought it off of Ebay. I printed the cover of the game off and wrapped it in a package for him to open and told him that it would arrive later in the week. Much to my surprise Chris had gone to Gamestop during his lunch break that day and they had just received a shipment of the guitar heroes for the wii. He bought one. I bet that wasn't easy for him to unwrap my gift and then admit to me that he also bought one. Needless to say I told him that he should not expect a gift from me in the near future. What a twirp . . . obviously he doesn't know that you don't buy gifts for yourself on your birthday when you haven't opened the gifts that your family got for you!!

If that doesn't sound like something my husband would do too! But he buys his own gifts BEFORE his bday and then comes home and shows me and I get ticked. So ...I tell him I've bought the same things and take them back and say "I'm not buying anything else!" He doesn't care. He shops so often for himself he has everything. Aren't men fun?

Hope you had a nice party. I forgot Chris was a little older than the rest of us! Dang! :) 35 is a big deal.

Next year you should have an Elvis party for his bday with all of his favorite things. (Elvis' favorites) i.e. twinkies and peanut butter and banana sandwiches.
