Really?!?

This week has just been kind of surreal. Going to school AFTER Memorial day?!? Who does that?!? The kids at school are all ready to be done, the teachers are all ready to be done . . . nothing productive going on right now :)

We had a great long weekend. We were busy every night, and of course we didn't have one single picture taken. Figures. We went to the horse races with some friends on Friday night, to my brother's house in Flower Mound on Saturday night, to Kevin's sister's wedding on Sunday night, and then to the Tucker's house on Monday. My house looks like it blew up with laundry, dirt, etc. b/c I haven't been home long enough to get it clean. Where is that cleaning lady when you need her? Oh right, it's me.

I am looking forward to summer and sleeping in. Caden has been waking up about 10:30ish in the morning right now. With the long weekend the kids weren't in bed one night before 10pm . . .most closer to midnight and he proved to be a great sleeper. Grace too. I am so glad that my kids are at the age that they are. It was AMAZING to sleep in on Saturday morning and not have little fingers poking you in the face :)

Caden and the Baby Bunny . . .

Caden and his Grandma Mem found a nest of four little baby bunnies. . . here is Caden holding one of them. The Animal Control man said that they were only a few days old. Unfortunately, either Bently or Chandler got one of the bunnies so Caden is telling everyone about the bunny with the blood on his neck that they buried . . .I just love this picture of Caden. His smile is priceless :)

Holly and Reese . . .

They went home yesterday and all are well!

Two and 1/2 More Weeks . . .

of school!! It really stinks right now, because it feels like next week should be the last week of school, but with the late start date we aren't finished until June 4th. Let me rephrase that . . . the kids are done June 4th, but we still have to work on June 5th... grr!!

Yesterday was my "good-bye" at Thomas Elementary. They did a funny little "roast" to send me off to my new school next year. My friends definitely had me pegged:

1) The board game of "Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader" b/c they thought that I might need to study some - ha!

2) A camp survival kit including a wine glass, pretend laptop with nordstrom.com as the screen, they bedazzled a flashlight for me, and painted the Off Skintastic leopard with fringe :)

3) A bunch of school supplies for my new classroom . . .

4) A new spirit shirt for Mathews like my one that I have now for Thomas. My friend Amy makes them and the rest of my team is going to want one!! It's a black t-shirt that says Mathews Mavericks on the front in crystals and then she put a fancy "5" on the back for 5th grade. So cute!!

It was the hardest thing to do standing in front of my friends from the last 10 years and keep it together . . . needless to say I cried and these last couple of weeks are very bittersweet!

I am so ready for summer though and so are all of the kids at school!!!

REESE LAUREN TRIMBLE . . .

My friend Holly had her baby on Friday morning @ 2:15 am. Her water broke early on Thursday and they decided to induce labor. I'll post a pic when I get one. Mom and baby are doing great. She is about 6 weeks early so it was a huge surprise for Holly :) She weighed in at 5 lbs. 13 oz. and is 20 inches long. I can't wait to get to Austin and see them! I am so thankful that Holly has a sweet little baby to hold tomorrow for Mother's day!

Crawl for the Cure . . .

We partied like we thought we were rockstars . . . Here are the girls . . .

Chris and I at the first destination . . .

It's going to take a year to recover for the next crawl!!

Let's play ball!!

Caden and Grace both had opening weekend games on Saturday and Sunday. Grace's team is the Wildcats (yes, just like the Plano Wildcats) and Caden's team is the Bees. They are a minor league team and I think that the name is very appropriate!

While Chris and I were participating in a very worthy fundraiser for cancer, Grandma Mem and Grand-dad took over in the dug outs and took the kids to their games on Saturday. Thank you!! Caden hit the ball on his 2nd swing and ended up scoring a run (he ran all of the bases in order!!). While he was playing pitcher he also made two outs on 1st base. Way to go Caden! We froze on Saturday morning at Grace's game (55 degrees is a lot colder in wide open spaces!). We left before the end of her game, but on Sunday when she played she scored a home run AND made a play on 3rd that got the runner out!! Woo Hoo!! It's fun to watch them play and be successful at sports! Phil would have been very proud of his ball players! Grace was given the gameball for her homerun on Sunday. You should have seen her ear to ear smile - priceless!
